COVID-19 has disrupted many aspects of business and entrepreneurship. Two new webinar series from the Business & Entrepreneurship sector are helping educators and business owners stay on top of those changes in uncertain times.
The first series is focused on community college educators and partners. The goal is to create both a job-ready workforce and entrepreneurial leaders who can grow the B&E sector.
Three webinars have been held so far this spring, with attendees from California high schools and community colleges, as well as college faculty from outside California. February’s webinar covered new programs from the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), and the webinar in April focused on resources from Michelson IP to support digital learning. During May, educators will learn about the SBDC Response to Recovery, Reactivation and Resources and Global Economic Recovery and e-Commerce Strategies.
Recordings of the webinars are available on the sector website:
In addition, the B&E sector has been offering weekly Grow with Google webinars designed to help small businesses during COVID-19. More than 100 people registered for the first webinar on April 23, which covered how to create a Google business profile and update hours of operation in light of COVID-19.
“The idea was to provide businesses with some resources to help with recovery from the COVID-19 shutdown,” said B&E Statewide Director Chuck Eason. “Moving forward, there may be an opportunity to include some modules in our existing credit courses that cover marketing with Google.”
Alese Campbell, B&E Regional Director in the Central Valley, is working with Corissa Saint Laurent, a Grow with Google consultant, to organize and deliver the webinars.
